Austrian architect, architecture critic and cultural publicist who is considered as one of the pioneers of modern architecture | 1870 born in Brno, Moravia, Austria-Hungary | 1889 graduates from the k.k. “Staatsgewerbeschule” in Brünn (present-day Czech Republic) | 1890-93 studies structural engineering at “Technical University” in Dresden | 1893-96 lives in USA and has various jobs | 1896 settles in Vienna and begins to work as a journalist and architect | 1933 died in Kalksburg near Vienna
