German-American architect who became famous for his bold skyscrapers and office towers inspired by Bauhaus legend Mies van der Rohe | 1940 born in Nuremberg, Germany | 1965 graduates in architecture from “Technical University of Munich” | 1966 goes to Chicago for postgraduates studies at “Illinois Institute of Technology”; meets Mies van der Rohe | 1967 joins Charles Murphy’s (1890-1985) architectural firm | 1983 takes over as head of the renamed company “Murphy / Jahn”; membership of the “Association of German Architects” (BDA) | 2012 renames Murphy/Jahn simply to “JAHN” | 2021 died in Illionis / United States
