American architect and designer | 1934 born in Indianapolis | 1958 receives bachelor in architecture at the “University of Cincinnati” | 1959 master’s degree at “Harvard” | 1960-62 wins the “Prix de Rome” from the “American Academy in Rome” enables him to pursue postgraduate studies in Rome, Italy; returns to America and obtains position as lecturer, later professor at “Princton University” until his death | 1964 establishes own office in Princeton | 1970s member of the “New York Five” | 1991 becomes member of the “American Academy of Arts and Letters” | 2003 awarded by gold medal of the “American Institute of Architecture” | 2012 member of the “National Academy of Design” | 2003~ designs disability-friendly architecture and equipment after being paralysed from the chest down | 2015 died in Princeton
