Italian-British architect who became famous for his striking designs, such as the tubular cultural centre “Centre Pompidou” in Paris or the construction of the huge Millennium Dome in London | 1933 born in Florence, Italy | 1961 receives a scholarship to “Yale School of Art and Architecture”; develops interest in Frank LLOYD WRIGHT | 1965 founds “Team 4” with Norman FOSTER | 1969 Partnership with Renzo PIANO | 1971-77 builts “Centre Pompidou” in Paris with Renzo PIANO | 1977 establishes “Richard Rogers Partnership” | 1991 raised to the nobility | 2000 receives Praemium Imperiale from Japan’s imperial family | 2007 honoured by Pritzker Architecture Prize | 2008 appointed to “Order of the Companions of Honour” | 2021 died in London
