Hungarian-American architect and designer who is regarded as one of the pioneers of modern tubular steel furniture who worked for several years in Walter GROPIUS’s practice before setting up his own business | 1902 born in Pécs, Austria-Hungary | 1937 due to his Jewish heritage, he flews from Nazi Germany and emigrates to the USA, where he helps to establish the faculty of architecture at Harvard University together with Gropius and sets up a joint architectural practice | 1941 opens his own architectural practice | 1981 died in New York City
