1913 born in Sakai / Ôsaka | 1938 graduates at “Tôkyô University”; influenced by Le Corbusier | 1938-41 works for MAEKAWA Kunio | 1961 founds “Kenzô Tange + URTEC” | 1963-74 professor at Tôkyô University; his students include ÔTANI Sachio, KUROKAWA Kishô, ISOZAKI Arata and MAKI Fumihiko | 1975 becomes member of Prussian order “Pour le Mérite” | 1987 receives Pritzker Architecture Prize | 1996 honoured by Praemium Imperiale from Japan’s imperial family | 1997 his son TANGE Paul Noritaka becomes president of “Kenzô Tange Associates” | 2003 TANGE Paul founds “Tange Associates” | 2005 TANGE Kenzô died in Tôkyô
