1885 born in Tôkyô | 1904 begins to study architecture at the “Tôkyô Imperial University” (today “University of Tôkyô”); during his studies he could follow the construction of the Mitsubishi commercial street | 1907 graduates and works for “Mitsubishi Estate Co.” | 1910 studies structural engineering at Tôkyô Imperial University | 1911 becomes lecturer at Tôkyô Imperial University | 1918 receives his doctorate | 1921 becomes professor and 1923 director of building department at Tôkyô Imperial University | 1935 president of the Architectural Institute of Japan | 1943-45 president of Tôkyô Imperial University | 1972 died
