Japanese architect and a representative of the “Nobushi generation” – how MAKI Fumihiko calls his generation referring to the fact that they did not have a specific master | 1941 born in Yaizu / Shizuoka | 1964 graduates in architecture at “Kantô Gakuin University”; trains with KIKUTAKE Kiyonori | 1971 master course at lab of SHINOHARA Kazuo at “Tôkyô Institute of Technology”; becomes his assistant | 1979 establishes “Itsuko Hasegawa Atelier” | 1984 receives the prize of the “Architectural Institute of Japan” for her work on the “Bizan Hall” | 1986 first prize in the open competition for the “Shonandai Cultural Center” – MAKI Fumihiko and ISOZAKI Arata were jurors | 2018 first Japanese architect awarded “Royal Academy Architecture Prize”
