Japanese architect who left behind many works that were distinctly different from modernism. After working for the Ministry of Communications and Daiichi Bank, he became independent | 1892 born in Fukushima | 1916 graduates from “Tokyo Fine Arts School” | 1919 joins Daiichi Bank, where he was involved in the construction of the bank’s head office – designed by NISHIMURA Yoshitoki | 1924 establishes his own architectural office | 1945 becomes a member of the “Tokyo Metropolitan Government’s Emergency Architectural Guidance Department” | 1948 reopens his architectural office | 1975 he died
