Portuguese sculptor and teacher | 1922 born in Lisbon, Portugal | 1941-53 enrolls at the “Lisbon School of Fine Arts”, attends the architecture and later the sculpture course | 1947 + 1951 while still a student he participates in the “Exposições Gerais de Artes Plásticas” (General Exhibitions of Plastic Arts) | 1954-56 attends the “Slade School of Fine Arts”, London, student of Henry MOORE | 1964 for political reasons he is not admitted to teach at the “Lisbon School of Fine Arts” | 1976, two years after the 25th April Revolution he joins the “Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Lisbon”, where he becomes 1992 professor of Sculpture | 1990 his monument to the antifascist of Aljustrel is inaugurated | 1998 died in Estremoz
