Keith HARING
(1958 – 1990)
American artist who is considered a representative of 1980s Pop Art. He took some of his painting methods from the graffiti scene | 1958 born in Reading, Pennsylvania | 1976 studies commercial art (two semesters) at “Ivy School of Professional Art in Pittsburgh” | 1978 manages his first solo exhibition at the “Pittsburgh Arts and Crafts Center”; moves to New York and enrolls at the “School of Visual Arts”; becomee acquainted with emerging artists | 1980~ organises exhibitions and produces his first works aimed at a public audience; was invited to participate in the “Times Square Show” | 1982 first solo exhibition at the “Tony Shafrazi Gallery”, it enables him to make his international breakthrough; meets Andy Warhol and becomes friends with him | 1990 died in New York City
