Russian-American art director, sculptor, photographer and visual artist who emigrated with his family from Russia to the USA via England and France where he studied at the “École nationale supérieure des beaux-arts”, Paris | 1912 born in Kiev, Ukraine (then in Russian Empire) | 1930s involves in the editorial team of the French magazine “Vu” | 1941 emigrates to New York, works for the magazines “Vogue” | 1943 becomes Vogue´s artistic director | 1950s begins painting, and later moves on to metal sculpture, creates hugh abstract and semi-abstract outdoor sculptures | 1962-1994 editorial director at “Condé Nast Publications” | 1999 died in Miami Beach, Florida
