Kenneth ARMITAGE
(1916 – 2002)
British sculptor who is best known for his bronze sculptures of human figures who are exhibited in the world’s most important galleries and museums. His early work was influenced by Henry MOORE | 1916 born in Leeds, Great Britain | 1934-37 studies at te “College of Art” in Leeds; then at the “Slade School of Fine Art” in London | 1952 takes part in “documenta 1” in Kassel | 1958 honoured at the 29th Venice Biennale as “best young British sculptor” | 1959 artist at “document II” | 1964 “documenta III” 1969 was appointed “Commander of the British Empire” by the Queen | 1994 appointed a member of the “Royal Academy of Arts”
