Contemporary Greek-Austrian sculptor who created abstract figures derived from the human body | 1922 born in Batumi (USSR) to Pontic Greel parents | 1939 because of persecution and the death of his father in prison his family emigrates to Greece | 1943 during the Axis occupation of Greece he is deported to Vienna, Austria, to work in forced labour at a train repair shop | 1945-49 studies painting at the “Academy of Fine Arts Vienna” | 1953-56 studies sculpture | 1962 represents Austria together with Friedensreich HUNDERTWASSER at the 31st Biennale in Venice | 1968-1992 professor at the Vienna Academy | 1966/67 works as a professor in Hamburg, Germany | 2013 honoured by “Grand Decoration of Honour in Gold with Star for Services to the Republic of Austria” | 2016 died in Vienna
