The first records of TAKENAKA date back to 1610. TAKENAKA Tobei Masataka is considered the founding father who, as a shrine and temple builder in Nagoya, was responsible for the construction and maintenance of the buildings of the feudal ODA family. In 1899, TAKENAKA Toemon, a 14th generation descendant, establishes a branch in Kôbe City; construction of the Mitsui Bank Kôbe Onohama warehouse | 1909 TAKENAKA KOMUTEN, an unlimited partnership, is established – Kôbe as head office and Nagoya as branch office | 1923 head office moves to Ôsaka City and the Kôbe head office becomes a branch | 1935 construction of the Kôbe Moslem Mosque | 1937 TAKENAKA CORPORATION – today one of five major general contractors in Japan – is established.
