Japanese architect who was active in the field of urban planning and building administrator for the city of Tôkyô during the Taishô era (1912-1926) | 1887 born in Nagasaki prefecture | 1908 graduates from the faculty of architecture at “Tôkyô Imperial University of Technology” (now “University of Tôkyô”) | 1910 works for Sumitomo´s head office (now NIKKEN SEKKEI) and “Mitsubishi Limited Partnership” (now MITSUBISHI JISHÔ SEKKEI); becomes engineer for the city of Tôkyô | 1913 wins the first prize in a competition of a project commemorating the 50th anniversary of the opening of the port of Yokohama | 1924 works on earthquake reconstruction projects | 1930 opens own architectural office | 1938 becomes vice president of the “Architectural Institute of Japan” | 1971 died
