Yoshida castle

吉田城 yoshida-jô

castle with rebuilt turret / japanische Burg

Toyohashi City

Yoshida-jô (formerly Imahashi-jô) was built as early as 1505 by MAKINO Kôhaku and generously extended in 1590 by the ruler IKEDA Terumasa in accordance with his wealth. The side tower, which is now part of Toyohashi Park in the town of Toyohashi and was reconstructed in 1954, and the moss-covered castle wall roughly characterise the castle complex of that time. The castle is also mentioned in the series of ANDÔ Hiroshige – the master of Japanese woodblock prints – on the Tôkaidô highway.
