Kameyama castle
亀山城 kameyama-jô
castle without donjon / japanische Burg
Kameyama City
In 1590, Kameyama-jô castle was built in a hilly area of Kameyama – some years later a post station during the Edo period (1603-1868) on the Tôkaidô highway – from an old 13th century defence structure. Today’s Tamon-yagura lookout tower was built partly with stone materials from the former main tower and designated a historical site.
