Yasukuni-jinja 靖國神社

Yasukuni shrine / japanischer Shintô-Schrein

Kudankita / Tôkyô

Shrine dedicated to the more than 2 million dead of Japan’s various wars – since the beginning of the Meiji period (1868-1912). Since those condemned by the Allies as war criminals of the Second World War also found their final resting place here, the shrine becomes a contentious political issue every year during the “private visits” of leading politicians, which usually results in a note of protest from China.
