Kanda-myôjin 神田明神
Kanda shrine / japanischer Shintô-Schrein
Soto-Kanda / Tôkyô
Shrine founded in the 8th century and moved by TOKUGAWA Ieyasu to its present location in the Kanda district. Since the Edo period, the shrine has been dedicated to the two deities Ebisu and Daikokuten and to the memory of Taira no Masakado, whose head, cut off after a revolt in 935, is said to have flown away, according to legend. Today’s buildings, replicas of the historic shrine, were built in the 1930s, after the 1923 earthquake. Setsubun-mamemaki – bean-throwing – takes place at the beginning of spring.
