Kasuga Grand Shrine
japanischer Shintô-Schrein
Built in 710, the shrine is erected to protect the new capital Heijô-kyô – now Nara. The magnificent metal lanterns along the gallery and the thousands of stone lanterns that line the path to the shrine and are lit in August, during the Bon Festival, are donations from the faithful.
