Okayama castle, also called U-jô (“Crow’s castle”) because of its black paint, was built in years from 1346 to 1369, completed in 1597 and then destroyed 350 years later by the bombardments of the Second World War in 1945. The castle was rebuilt in the 1960s and the replica main tower completed in 1966.
