Kamikôchi, a rather remote mountainous highland valley, is located in the Chûbu-Sangaku National Park, which encompasses the Hida Mountains. The mountainous region is located in the Chûbu region, in the Northern Alps, on the borders of the four prefectures of Nagano, Gifu, Toyama and Niigata.
