Takamatsu, the castle town and administrative centre of Kagawa, Japan’s smallest prefecture, has a population of over 410,000 and is located in a bay of the Seto Inland Sea in the northern part of the island of Shikoku. The city’s most important sights include the remains of Takamatsu-jô castle, which is located by the sea, and the extensive Ritsurin-kôen landscape garden.
