Hokkaidô

Furano, located northeast of Sapporo in the center of the northern main island of Hokkaidô, the northernmost of Japan’s four main islands, is a popular winter sports destination due to its heavy snowfall and sub-zero temperatures from November to the end of March. The city has a total area of 600 square kilometers, with a population of about 20,000 living in its center, suburbs, settlements, and villages.
