This extraordinary garden – the Omote Goten Garden located in the grounds of the former Tokushima castle – comprises a dry landscape garden and an adjoining pond garden. The arrangement of the large stones – mica slate (Glimmerschiefer) from Tokushima – seem tailor-made. The natural uncut stone bridge over the dry garden is about 10 m long – the longest of its kind in a Japanese garden. The cut stone bridge (5 m) over the pond is among the first of its kind.
