The older “Grand Front Osaka” and the new “Grand Green Osaka” form a single, cohesive whole known as the “Umekita District” – a mixed-use commercial complex with an adjacent city park in the central Umeda district of Osaka. Although the area lies opposite Osaka Station and Umeda Station – the largest transport hubs in the Kansai region – and is often described as Osaka’s last prime development site, this extensive area served as Umeda Freight Yard until 2013. Grand Green Osaka: The project was opened in phases – the first phase began in 2024, followed by South Park in 2025, which features a huge event lawn and striking canopies designed by SANAA. The nature-oriented North Park, with waterfalls and ponds, will follow in 2027.
