The Genkyû-en Garden, laid out in the late 17th century, interesting for its Chinese influences, is part of the Hikone-jô castle complex and is a former villa of the II clan. II Naosuke (1815-1860), who was feudal lord (daimyô) of Hakone at the end of the Edo period (1603-1868), was born here.
