Inuyama-matsuri 犬山祭り

“Inuyama festival”

Since the mid-17th century, this has been an annual parade festival in April in the town of Inuyama, starting from the Harizuna shrine. A total of 13 decorated floats and their mechanical dolls (karakuri-ningyô) are paraded through the narrow streets of the small town to the accompaniment of flute and drum music. As darkness falls, the lights of about 300 lanterns attached to the floats are lit.
