Kintai-kyô is an arch bridge (sorihashi) over the Nishiki-gawa river in Iwakuni, a town in Yamaguchi prefecture near Hiroshima. The bridge was commissioned by the lord of the castle, KIKKAWA Hiroyoshi, and completed in 1673 without the use of nails – see also Kiyomizu temple. The original five-humped bridge was badly damaged by a typhoon in 1950.
