Japanese seasons
春夏秋冬
Four seasons in Japan are considered something special. Accordingly, they are celebrated in many ways. Every season has its fixed symbols and rituals – and food of course. The cherry blossom show in spring (hanami 花見) becomes one big folk festival. Japan’s summers are known for blistering temperatures and high humidity, but this season is also full of activity and events, from colorful fireworks to gorgeous nature and lively traditional festivals. The autumn foliage colouring attracts people to the mountains and forests. Winter is the perfect time to travel for those who want to escape the crowds and experience a very different Japan away from cherry blossom and autumn foliage colouring: endless landscapes of powdery snow, steaming hot springs and fascinating winter festivals.
