The Supreme Court building in Singapore was constructed between 2000 and 2005. The Law Centre is regarded as a modern architectural landmark in the city’s historic Civic District. The building’s most striking feature is a disc-shaped structure at the top, often colloquially referred to as the ‘UFO’. The generous use of glass in atria, skylights and lift shafts, together with the open-plan layout, is intended to embody the ideals of legal transparency and openness.
