Places of art

Contemporary art museum conceived in 1968 on Mundjic Hill in Barcelona, Spain – mainly housing the works of Joan MIRÓ – is the largest private museum worldwide and is called ‘a gift from Miró’ to the people of Barcelona. The building was designed by Josep Lluís SERT, a good friend of Miró and student of LE CORBUSIER. The close friendship and collaboration between the two can be seen in the interplay between exhibits and architecture: both had a penchant for harmonious forms and the interplay of light, space and colour. The interior of the building is fully lit by outside light.
