Japanese sculptor | 1913 born in Nagasaki | 1933 enrolls at “Tōkyō Bijutsu Gakkō” and studies sculpture under KITAMURA Seibō | 1936 still a student when his sculpture “Head of Miss F” was accepted at the State “Colourful” exhibition | 1940 completes the school’s graduate course | 1945~ after the war, takes over the design of products for the Sanyo company, becomes head of the department at the company’s headquarters | 1958 becomes member of the “Nitten” (Japanese art exhibition) | 1968 receives promotion prize of the “Minister of Culture” | 1971 prize of the “Japanese Academy of Arts” for his sculpture “Fresh Wind” | 1974 becomes member of the Japanese Academy of Arts | 1984 awarded as “Person of Special Cultural Merit” | 1989 “Order of Culture” | 2006 died
