MOTONAGA Sadamasa
元永定正 (1922 – 2011)
Japanese painter and illustrator. As an avant-garde artist, he is highly acclaimed both in Japan and abroad | 1922 born in Mie prefecture | 1938 moves to Ôsaka; works in a machine tool shop | 1940 studies Western-style painting at “Nakanoshima Western Painting Institute” (today “Nakanoshima Art School”) | 1944 returns to Mie prefecture, after working for Japan National Railways (JNR); studies under a Western-style painter | 1950 resigns from post office | 1952 resigns from “Shanggong Forestry”; moves to Kôbe City | 1947-2002 continues to exhibit his works – except 1967 and 1995 (Great Hanshin-Awaji Eartquake) -, sculptures and photographes, at the “Ashiya City Exhibition” | 2011 died
