峯孝 (1914 – 2003)

Japanese sculptor | 1913 born in Kyôto | 1926 enters the “Kyoto Municipal School of Arts and Crafts” | 1931 moves to Tôkyô to study sculpture at the “Tokyo School of Fine Arts”; his health failed and he returns to Kyôto | 1938 exhibits at the 3rd “Kyôto City Art Exhibition” and was awarded the “Governor’s Prize” | 1941 exhibits “Primavera” at the “Naodokai Exhibition”, was awarded the “Encouragement Prize” | 1958-61 teaches at “Musashino Art School” in Kodaira | 1966 visits Egypt, Greece, Italy and France, produces a marble “Icarus” in Carrara | 1977 visits China as a member of the “Japan-China Friendship Art Delegation” | 1982 becomes director of the “Japan Artists Federation” | 1983 becomes member of the board of directors of “the Japan Artists’ Association” | 2003 died
