Midosuji opend in 1937 is approximately 4 km long, Ôsaka’s most popular and important street, which connects Umeda in the North to as far as Namba in the South, now has a new attraction – sculptures. Nearly 30 works of art by famous artists have been placed along the street, often referred to as the “Champs Elysee of the Orient”. The boulevard is lined with a fabulous border of hundreds of gingko trees, which cast lovely shade in the summer. When the leaves turn yellow in the fall, the atmosphere of the avenue is even more romantic as people stroll over a carpet of golden leaves.
