The Louvre-Lens is an art museum in the former mining town of Lens in the Pas-de-Calais department in northern France. The museum opened in December 2012 and is a branch of the Louvre in Paris. Designed by the Japanese architectural office SANAA and Imrey-Culbert it primarily displays works that were stored at the Paris headquarters. Louvre Abu Dhabi: The French government and the United Arab Emirates signed a cooperation agreement that included the construction of a ‘miniature Louvre’ on the artificial island of Saadiyat in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the Emirates. The museum officially opened to visitors in November 2017.
