Cloud Fortress (1975)

“Cloud Fortress” (1975), NAGARE´S sculpture, a massive appearance, which consisted of a steel and concrete framework clad in black granite, stood at the plaza of the World Trade Centre. The work was placed between buildings 4 and 5 as a second entrance to the main square. Although the sculpture initially withstood the attacks of 11 September 2001 and the collapse of the neighbouring buildings, it was demolished in the following days to allow emergency operations at Ground Zero. The debris was removed from the site along with other rubble.
