Diplomat´s House
Yamate / foreign settlement / The Bluff / Yokohama 1910
The building is called “Diplomat’s House” because the owner was UCHIDA Sadatsuchi, a prominent diplomat during the Meiji-era (1868-1912). In 1995 the house was moved from its original place in Nanpeidai in Tôkyô’s Shibuya district to the present location in the compound of Yamate Italian Garden – after UCHIDA’s granddaughter, who wanted to preserve it, donated it to the City of Yokohama
