At the intersection of popular religion and narrative art, we encounter a world of mythical creatures and ghosts rich in form in Japan. The mythical creatures (yōkai) that form permanent communities on the fringes of human society include, for example, the tengu, the oni and other ghostly beings, but also animals with magical gifts such as foxes, snakes and others.
