Specially for botanical gardens: VALDÉS originally designed the sculpture (along with six other monumental heads) for a major solo outdoor exhibition at the New York Botanical Garden, which opened in September 2012. In the years that followed (e.g. 2014 and 2016), he produced further, partly smaller versions or numbered editions of the ‘Ferns’ series for galleries and exhibitions worldwide.
