The facility is housed in the former factory of Kurashiki Spinning Co., Ltd., which was built in 1889 on the site of the former magistrate’s office of the Edo Shogunate. It was renovated in 1973 and redeveloped as a tourist facility. The site is located within the “Kurashiki Bikan Historical Quarter”.
