Louvre Abu Dhabi: The French government and the United Arab Emirates signed a cooperation agreement in March 2007, which included the construction of a ‘miniature Louvre’ located on the artificial island of Saadiyat in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the Emirates. Louvre-Lens: Opened in December 2012 in the former mining town of Lens. The museum is located on an abandoned colliery site and aims to attract more attention and art-loving tourists to the northern French region.
