Sculptor NAGARE Masayuki designed the Japanese interior garden in the style of Zen Buddhist gardens, which represent the macrocosm as miniature cosmic landscapes. The island in the basin of the Aachen pond (in front of the museum terrace) and the granite sculpture Flag in the Wind placed on it are also by NAGARE.
