Spanish architect and active teacher, influenced by LE CORBUSIER, Louis KAHN and Alvar AALTO | 1955 born in Barcelona, Spain | 1978 exams at “Escola Tècnica Superior d’Arquitectura” (ETSAB), Barcelona | 1984 establishes office in Barcelona | meets Carme PINÓS, his wife and partner | 1984-1991 they run together an architecture firm; “Igualada Cemetery” the best-known work of their collaboration | 1985 becomes professor at ETSAB | 1990 takes over conceptional design chair at the “Städelschule”, Frankfurt am Main | 1993 partnership with Italian architect Benedetta Tagliabue, foundation of “EMBT Architects”; receives an invitation from “Harvard University” to occupy the TANGE Kenzô chair | 2000 died in Sant Feliu de Codines – Benedetta Tagliabue continues EMBT Architects
