Japanese gardens

Japanische Gärten

Japanese gardens can be typologically divided into three large groups – with subgroups and overlaps: 1. chitei = pond garden (palace garden of the Heian period (794-1185); paradise style garden; walking or pleasure garden). 2. kare-san-sui = garden of stone and sand (landscape in which natural elements are replaced by others); “Zen garden”; “dry landscape garden”. 3. roji = tea garden (with a hint of a true landscape in the detail).
