Bugaku 舞楽  Gagaku 雅楽

Gagaku (ga = elegant; gaku = music) is from the Asian continent influenced and during the Heian period (794-1185) at the imperial court established classical music. Together with a dancing performance the pure orchestral music is called bugaku (bu = dance; gaku = music). By the 7th century various instruments had been introduced in Japan from China.
