Climbing Mount Fuji
富士山に登る
Since Fuji-san is relatively easy to climb – a good physical condition is usually sufficient – the almost 3,800 m high mountain is one of the most popular tourist destinations for the Japanese. Starting point for the ascent is usually the 5th station at 2,300 m above sea level. A normal road has been built to this station, from where four different routes lead upwards. The highest goal of most visitors is goraikô, to experience the “sunrise from a high mountain peak” or superlatively from the summit of Mount Fuji.
